When Modern Warfare 2 was first announced on February 11, 2009 we all were very excited for the sequel of 2007 hit Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare, slowly as the release date came near more and more information was revealed officially, including some bad news, and some controversial news.

One of the major controversies were the fact that the game had a mission where player had to play the role as a terrorist and kill innocent civilians in a Russian airport, although players had the option to skip this mission but this mission has caused anger in the international community.

The bad news for Modern Warfare 2 was the fact that it was a complete console port. Not only it lacks modding but also dedicated servers. Infinity Ward (the developers of Modern Warfare 2) promised that players will enjoy there IWNet service replacing the dedicated servers, but after the game release many players have reported lagg issues and various reports of hacking.

After this, many players were disappointed from Modern Warfare 2, almost every disappointed gamer got his attention on another game coming in March of 2010, it was “BattleField: Bad Company 2″, EA (publisher of the game) and DICE (developer of the game) immediately noted this heavy audience attraction and officially posted a statement stating they will have dedicated servers in Bad Company 2, this post worked like oil in a fire, everyone just started talking about Bad Company 2. Although Bad Company 2 still lacks the support for modding, officially its been said that after the release of game if community requests the modding tools, DICE will be happy to develop them for PC.

After months of waiting DICE officially launched a BETA for the PC, every player who per-ordered the game had a key and more players could apply for a key, till the key stock ended. Initially the BETA had many optimization problems, people were unable to login and the game was very laggy, but then unexpectedly DICE released patches for the BETA, normally developers do not release patches for BETA’s. After a month of huge responses from BETA players DICE released one last patch that just fixed almost everything, so here we come.. How can Bad Company 2 beat Modern Warfare 2? Some points:

  • Although it was a BETA it still had less glitches and bugs compared to the full release of Modern Warfare 2.
  • Everything in the game is destructible, from buildings to fences, no cover is forever. In Modern Warfare 2 everything was static, even a predator missile won’t demolish a building. In BattleField: Bad Company 2 everything is destructible, fences, buildings, anything, you can fire a grenade launcher on a wall and make a hole big enough to go through.
  • You can actually control vehicles, from Tanks to Choppers, there are many vehicles in Bad Company 2, and you control all of them. While in Modern Warfare 2 you could just (for example) call in a Chopper and it will do kills for you, or you could just sit as a gunner in the chopper but cannot fly it.
  • Graphics: Modern Warfare 2 used DirectX9 to render the game, while the graphics were impressive with a good FPS even on a low-tech computer, BattleField: Bad Company 2 just beats the graphics of Modern Warfare 2. BattleField: Bad Company 2 uses advanced DirectX10 and DirectX11 technologies to render real-looking graphics and explosions.
  • Sound effects in Bad Company 2 just beat any other game out right now. Its just amazing how anyone can add so great sound effects in a game, its just unbelievable, there are no words to explain how great the sound is, you have to play the game to experience it.
  • Huge Maps have always been a key factor of BattleField series. The Call of Duty Franchise which Modern Warfare 2 comes under have always been known for its small to medium sized maps with indestructible buildings and static environment. In Bad Company 2 players get 10 maps (8 if you don’t download the Day-1-DownloadPack) where everything is destructible.
  • Dynamic Environment is one of the best things in Bad Company 2. In Bad Company 2 the environment is completely dynamic, if a mortar explodes on ground it can dig up a hole in ground make a bumpy ride for ground vehicles.
  • Team Play and Squad Play. BattleField Franchise have always been a Team-Play game, while Modern Warfare 2 focuses on Individual Play, and rewards players for things they do for themselves. Bad Company 2 focuses on Team Play and Squad Play, and rewards players for what they do for there Team and Squad.

Personally i like Bad Company 2 more than Modern Warfare 2 because of its Team Play, graphics, sounds and destruction. Although i respect Modern Warfare 2 and the hard work Infinity Ward put in Modern Warfare 2 is appreciated.

Modern Warfare has its fare share of campers, they sit around wait for u to come and thn whoop ur ass.

Modern warfare 2 has a unrealistic storyline, but the twists were good….
MW2 dosnt feel like its predecessor….

Got hold of BFBC2 demo on xbox, it was gud, but since i played first time BF, i had a hard time adjusting to the experience…

once you are comfortable with the game mechanics bfbc2 is better than mw2, mw2 was good, they tried to make a movie-like storyline and movies are ofcource not realistic, bc2 has a good storyline too but some people say its booring, i dont agree though.

  2. Modern Warfare 2 was a disappointment. The previous Modern Warfare was much more engaging.. I used to play Modern Warfare and the game was so engaging, I couldn't think to quit the game.. would just continue levels to levels, and the multiplayer was something awesome.. When I sit down to play MW2, nothing get me to play more..

I Totally Agree with this article
i mean a Battlefield cant get more Realistic than in BC2.
and the article forgot to mention the DLC Packs thats gonna be given out for Free to all BC2 buyers from Day 1 to pretty much once every month atleast.
    Very nice article dude.

I totaly agread. I realy like that bfbc has some teamplay and tactics in it. And with a good squad you can easly crush the enemy :P , and not like in mw2 where you play just for your self.
